June 2006 and our Flower Festival plans came to fruition; flowers were delivered on Tuesday morning the 8th of June, buckets, boxes, and yet more buckets, it seemed as if the whole of the flower market had been delivered to St. Stephen's. Chaos reigned until the Flower Arrangers arrived armed with scissors, stands of all shapes and sizes and material on Wednesday and Thursday. Two long exhausting days, the last flower being put into place on Thursday evening at 11.00pm, but our Church looked magnificent. We had many visitors from around the Diocese and some of the comments in our visitors book are very complimentary. We did sing all twenty two hymns, some at our morning service and the rest at our Songs of Praise in the evening, accompanied by Bolton Youth Brass Band everyone sang with great gusto, it was a super service.
The whole weekend was a huge success, the proceeds are to be put into the Independent Restoration Fund for much needed repairs to our Church Tower.
