Fundraising update

Fun Day at Unity Brook -

This activity filled afternoon, dispite the weather raised approx £375.00, with a visit by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton. We'd like to thank all the staff at Unity Brook for their support and enthusiasm in helping us raise more funds to keep St Stephen's running.

St. Stephen's Church Newsletter - May 2009

Firstly, a huge THANK YOU

to our parishioners and friends for the superb response to our appeal last year to help us bring your Church into the 21 st century.

This newsletter is to bring you up to date with what we are doing, where we are up to, and the way forward.

Members of our Parochial Church Council took on the tremendous task of appealing to Grant Funding Bodies with some success.

Parishioners responded too, with gifts, donations, increased planned giving (envelopes/covenants) and Sunday Service Offertory

Plans for toilet, kitchen and meeting room have been drawn up and are on display in Church for anyone to come and have a look at.

Estimates for work have been received and are now under consideration.

Our Architect is working hard to make sure that our plans meet the diocesan criteria, this has been more difficult than we expected because St. Stephen's is now a Grade II listed building. Also, we have no sewer drainage which is proving to be a very expensive part of the project.

However, with your continued help and support, this much needed project will be completed, and that extra donation large or small will make all the difference between having to return all our grant funding and success of this project.

Most Recent Update - We're nearly there!

Unfortunatually we still don't have the faculty from the Diosese to get the building work started. The most recent queries are that the original plans for the toilet in the tower room is too small and the plans have therefore had to be redrawn to incorporate the toilet next to the kitchen facilities at the back of the church. We really hope that this change will finally get us the faculty we need to get started though we are still a few thousand pounds short, so ideas for other grants available are greatly appreciated!

Donations would be much very appreciated too, cheques to St. Stephens Church, marked on the reverse "for facilities fund" can be sent to:
